Elephant Herd Crossing Winter Leaves in Alsace
by Iris Woodard
Pale winter light wraps around a herd of elephants moving across a ground carpeted with dry, brown leaves. The horizon glows softly as the sun dips low, casting long, stretched shadows that stretch across the dusty earth. Fine particles of dust rise gently from their heavy footsteps, mixing with a visible haze that suggests sea spray hanging in the cold air. Their thick, wrinkled gray skin catches the fading warmth, highlighting deep crevices and coarse hairs. The animals stand in a tight, alert formation, ears slightly flared and trunks raised, conveying clear raw, untamed tension. The background fades into a flat, pale sky that offers no shelter, showing the exposed nature of the crossing. Dust settles slowly on the leaf litter near their front hooves.
