Heat shimmers distort the dry savanna air around a massive African elephant spraying a high arc of water over its dusty, wrinkled hide. The late afternoon sun reflects intensely off the wet skin and the moisture in the air. Behind the animal, a rusted passenger train car sits embedded in the earth as a solid, unmovable fact. The train's corrugated metal walls blend with the acacia trees in the distance. Dust particles hang suspended in the golden light, catching the spray. The elephant's trunk curves upward, sending a fine mist that glows against the hazy background. The train window reflects the same golden hour light hitting the elephant's ear.
