Horn Shark Resting on Kelp Forest Floor at Dawn

Sunlight pierces the surface haze, casting a soft, golden glow onto the sandy seabed of a California coastal channel. A horn shark lies motionless on the ocean floor, its mottled brown and gray skin merging seamlessly with the sediment and scattered blades of seagrass. The water remains exceptionally clear, allowing visibility of the shark's textured dermal denticles and the gentle sway of kelp fronds above. Low sun strikes the horizon haze, creating a luminous gradient that fades from pale orange to deep blue. Slow-moving surface ripples distort the light into shifting patterns across the kelp forest floor. The shark's dorsal fin casts a faint, soft shadow against the sand, at the base of the creature in this weightless, drifting quiet.
