Warm candlelight pools across the metal frames of stacked military bunks, casting deep shadows against the cool blue twilight filtering through the command post windows. Condensation blurs the glass panes, marking the dead of winter in Galicia. The chain of operations hangs clearly legible from a hook near the olive cots, its links catching the flickering firelight. Rough stone walls absorb the glow, while the low angle emphasizes the rigid, institutional discipline of the sleeping quarters. Dust motes hover in the shafts of orange light, settling on the cold, unmade mattresses.
