Crumbling Customs House Low Angle
by Malik Santos
Bright tropical sunlight floods the interior of a disused ceremonial court, illuminating dust motes that hang in the stagnant air. Weathered stone walls rise steeply, their surfaces pitted by salt and time, revealing layers of crumbling plaster beneath peeling paint. Sunlight cuts across the floor, casting sharp, geometric shadows that highlight the rough texture of the masonry. A low angle view emphasizes the towering height of the structure against the open sky. Through the archway, a faint sea haze blurs the horizon, softening the distant water. Broken columns stand like silent sentinels, their capitals cracked and missing pieces. The ground is scattered with debris, small stones, and dried vegetation pushing through the cracks in the pavement. One beam of light strikes a jagged edge of a fallen pillar, revealing the gray and beige tones of the decaying stone.
