Abandoned Libyan Dance Hall Sunset Ruin in along a vine-choked corridor in Libya

Abandoned Libyan Dance Hall Sunset Ruin

by Robyn Cain

Vines choke the crumbling stone walls of a ruined dance hall along a corridor in Libya, where the once-sprung wooden floor now warps upward in jagged, dry planks. Low-angle orange sunlight spills across the debris-strewn interior, illuminating dust motes suspended in the stagnant air. The setting sun casts long, sharp shadows that stretch across the fractured timber, highlighting the texture of splintered wood and peeling plaster. Early spring greenery pushes through cracks in the masonry, against the warm, fading light that bathes the empty space. A heavy vine hangs from the ceiling, its leaves trembling slightly in the wind that moves through the open roof beams, while a single broken mirror on the far wall reflects the dusty, orange sky.
