Yorkshire Ballroom Ruin Trees Parquet First Light in inside a stair hall open to the weather in Yorkshire

Yorkshire Ballroom Ruin Trees Parquet First Light

by Lacey O'Neal

Pale morning light falls through an open roof structure, illuminating the interior of a decaying Yorkshire ballroom. Tall, slender trees push upward through fractured parquet flooring, their roots gripping the broken wood. Dust motes hang in the air, catching the soft glow that bounces off the weathered, pale walls. The room remains empty, save for the structural remnants of elegance now overtaken by nature. Soft reflections shimmer on the damp stone near the base of the trunks. A crack runs diagonally across a warped floorboard, revealing the dark earth beneath the faded varnish.
