Warped Sprung Floor Amid Ruined Columns
Dry mountain light floods the clearing where a warped sprung floor of a dance hall lies exposed to the elements. The wooden planks bow upward in long, rhythmic curves, their original finish faded to a pale, dusty gray. Around the perimeter, toppled stone columns rest on their sides, partially swallowed by tall, spiky nettles that have reclaimed the ground. Low pools of ground fog rest on the deepest depressions in the wood and the base of the masonry, against the clear, bright sky above. The scene sits within a landscape that feels simultaneously arid and damp, the fog highlighting the texture of rotting timber against the sharp green of invasive plants. Sunlight strikes the highest curve of a plank, revealing a crack where the wood has split open.
