Decaying Hammam Floor Buried in Petals and Glass

by Brandy Pace

Bright midday sun floods the open roof of a roofless hammam near Orsk, illuminating a decaying stone floor scattered with pale spring petals and shards of broken glass. Moss creeps across the edges where the weathered masonry meets the earth. Fragments of glass catch the light, forming sharp, glittering points against the duller tones of the aged surface. A remaining archway creates a frame-within-a-frame effect, partially enclosing the view and adding depth. The petals lie in small clusters, their delicate forms resting against the rough texture of the ruined floor. A raindrop beads on a jagged glass shard at the edge of the arch.
