Rich amber sunset light pours through shattered window frames, illuminating dust motes and highlighting the decay of a grand hotel staircase. The once-luxurious velvet carpet has rotted into loose, hanging threads, revealing the wooden steps beneath. Broken plaster hangs from the ceiling in jagged strips, creating a frame-within-a-frame view of the upper landing. Monsoon moisture has darkened the lower walls with damp patches, while vines creep through cracks in the stone foundation. Quiet shadows stretch across the floor, against the bright orange glow hitting the debris. One shard of glass rests near the bottom step, reflecting the fading sky.
