Trees Through Cracked Ballroom Floor in Cappadocia

Late afternoon sunlight streams through sheer curtains, illuminating dust motes dancing above a shattered parquet floor where saplings push upward through deep fissures. The room belongs to a derelict ward in Cappadocia, its walls stained with age and scattered with shards of broken glass that catch the fading light. Shadows stretch long across the damaged floorboards, while a dim, warm glow from an old lamppost settles into the far corners, hinting at a time when the space was occupied. Early winter is evident in the bare branches of the intruding trees and the cool, grey light filtering in. The leading lines of the broken planks guide the gaze toward the dark doorway at the room's end. One shard of glass reflects the pale sky through the window frame.
