Upward Rain Hydrophone Belize Outcrop in along a rocky geology outcrop in Belize

Upward Rain Hydrophone Belize Outcrop

by Clark Gross

Crimson sunset light bathes a rugged limestone outcrop in Belize where a metallic hydrophone array descends from a research vessel onto the rocky shore. Silver streaks of rain fall upward from the wet stones, defying gravity with crisp, visible precision against the warm amber sky. The dry season air leaves the jagged rocks exposed and textured, while the equipment glows under the firelight warmth of the evening. Shallow depth of field blurs the distant horizon but keeps the falling water and descending metal in sharp focus. at the edge reveals a single droplet clinging to the edge of a sensor housing before reversing direction.
