Suspended Particles Glow in Reef Ledge Light

Warm golden hour sunlight penetrates the tropical shallows near Belize City, illuminating a dense suspension of glittering particles within the water column. Beneath a dark reef ledge, the outer edge of a barrier reef breaks into white foam, against the deep blue stillness of the inner cavity. Layers of depth recede from the shadowed foreground into the sunlit distance, where the water transitions from amber to azure. Fine sediment floats motionless, catching the low-angle light like scattered dust motes. The texture of the coral structure appears rough and porous against the smooth flow of the breaking waves. A final beam of light strikes the sandy bottom, highlighting individual grains of calcareous sand.
