Cool blue twilight washes over a concrete research platform in Belo Horizonte, where a wet season rain slicks the ground. An astronomer stands at eye level, fingers moving across a tablet screen to align visible stars. The sky above defies nature, shifting from expected night darkness to a solid, impossible deep magenta that bleeds down toward the horizon. Raindrops bead on the scientist's jacket and reflect the alien color. Concrete walls of the observatory rise sharply behind the figure. A faint green glow outlines the distant hills. The tablet screen glows with white data lines against the magenta backdrop. one drop of water slides from the tablet's edge.
