Hydrophone Array Lowered at Iloilo Dawn

Low sun light cuts through a thick haze along the horizon, illuminating the metallic sheen of a hydrophone array suspended mid-air. The device hangs from a heavy cable, perfectly centered between the rigging of a research vessel docked at a remote station near Iloilo. Water droplets rest on the dark, wet hull, reflecting the pale orange glow of the rising sun. The dry season air hangs heavy and still, visible in the way the mist settles low over the calm water. Symmetrical lines of the vessel's deck lead the eye directly to the scientific instrument, creating a balanced composition of steel, cable, and wet concrete. A small red warning light on the array housing glows faintly against the cool blue-grey tones of the early morning.
