Dappled sunlight falls through early summer leaves, striking the concrete walls of a dam overlooking turbulent reservoir water near Apeldoorn. The composition maintains perfect symmetry, dividing the frame between the engineered structure and the churning gray-blue liquid below. Thick mist rests on the water's surface, softening the horizon line while casting the foreground in sharp, high-contrast detail. In the background, hundreds of identical dam structures repeat in a rigid grid pattern, stretching endlessly into the mist. These duplicated concrete forms create a visual rhythm that contrasts with the chaotic motion of the water. One shadow from a leaf falls across the nearest wall, marking the boundary between the real and the impossible repetition.
