Dam Gallery Drips Before Dawn in Mist in along concrete walls above turbulent water in the Cotswolds

Dam Gallery Drips Before Dawn in Mist

by Isaiah Irwin

Pale morning haze fills a symmetrical concrete inspection gallery perched above churning water. Water droplets cling to hairline seams in the gray walls, creating vertical trails that catch the dim light. Steel cables run horizontally across the frame, their metallic surfaces reflecting the cool, pre-dawn glow. The turbulent river below appears as a dark, frothy mass beneath the structure, against the stillness of the gallery interior. Fog softens the edges of the concrete, blurring the boundary between the built environment and the misty air. The symmetrical lines of the architecture draw toward the center where the dripping water meets the rough texture of the stone floor. One drop hangs suspended at the edge of a steel bracket, poised to fall.
