Storm Light Over Concrete Breakwater in Vermont

Soft, diffused afternoon light washes over a massive breakwater constructed from interlocking concrete blocks along a Vermont levee. The blocks, weathered to a pale gray, rise steeply from the dark, churning floodwater below. A fine mist hangs low above the concrete surface, clinging to the rough texture of the stones and softening the sharp edges where the blocks meet. The water churns with a muted energy, reflecting the bruised sky above. A narrow path runs along the top of the levee, bordered by sparse, late-season vegetation that bows slightly under the damp air. The composition anchors the heavy structure in the lower right, balancing the open, misty water on the left. One droplet of water rolls down a vertical block face, catching the light before disappearing into the shadow below.
