Ontario Dam Spillway Water Release Late Autumn

Hard late-afternoon sunlight strikes the massive concrete walls of a dam spillway in Ontario, casting sharp shadows across the gray surface. Turbulent white water churns violently below the release gates, against the rigid geometry of the infrastructure. Thin steel cables stretch diagonally across the frame, anchoring the structure against the low-hanging gray clouds that fill the sky. Bare, dormant vegetation rests on the distant concrete banks, marking the late autumn season. Rust-colored streaks mark the lower sections of the wall where water frequently splashes. A jagged edge of a metal grate catches the light near the bottom right corner, defining the boundary between the dry walkway and the churning river.
