Concrete Powerhouse Below Penstocks After Rain

by Donovan Dillon

Gray concrete walls rise steeply from the water's edge, their surfaces slick with monsoon rain. Stacked steel penstock lines run horizontally across the upper frame, their riveted joints and heavy plates gleaming wetly against the overcast sky. Turbulent, churning water rushes at the base, creating white foam that rests on the dark, saturated stone. The view looks up from the ground, showing the sheer vertical scale of the walls and the industrial weight of the pipes. Soft afternoon light washes over the massive structure, reflecting off the wet surfaces without harsh shadows. A shallow puddle on the foreground pavement mirrors the underside of the nearest pipe.
