Amber Monsoon Water Rushing Delhi Dam Spillway in beside a hydroelectric intake in Connaught Place, Delhi

Amber Monsoon Water Rushing Delhi Dam Spillway

by Tamara Lamb

Vibrant white water crashes forcefully down a concrete spillway, churning into frothy foam as it meets the river below. The late monsoon sun casts a low amber glow across the structural steel beams and rusted metal railings of the hydroelectric intake. Thick cables and transformers sit mounted on the concrete abutments, their surfaces reflecting the warm light. Converging lines of the spillway walls guide toward a distant vanishing point where the water disappears into the mist. Droplets of spray hang suspended in the air, catching the golden hour illumination against the dark gray concrete. The water's edge is sharp and defined, cutting a clear path through the engineered channel.
