Snorkeler Drifting Over Stingray in Durban Winter Dawn

Pale morning light falls through the water, casting the foreground into deep shadow while illuminating the kelp fronds along the Durban shelf. A snorkeler floats motionless above a flat stingray resting on the white sand. Plankton haze softens the distant water, creating a luminous, submerged mystery. The winter season is evident in the cold, muted tones and the stillness of the kelp. Rim light outlines the edges of the swimmer and the ray, separating them from the darker depths. The sand beneath is smooth and pale, against the dark silhouettes of the kelp fronds swaying slightly. A faint reflection of the swimmer's mask glints on the water's surface above.
