Silhouetted Moray Eel in Dawn Reef Light

Deep shadow swallows the lower reef crevice where a moray eel rests, its body rendered as a stark black silhouette against the rising dawn light. A sharp rim of golden illumination traces the curve of the eel's head and the edge of its open mouth, separating it from the dark water. Tiny suspended particles glitter in the water column, catching the first rays of the sun and creating a field of scattered stars. The surrounding water holds a cool, otherworldly blue stillness, typical of the wet season depths near Stone Town. Fine sand lines the crevice floor, against the smooth, scaled texture of the eel's form. One beam of light cuts through the gloom, illuminating the motionless predator.
