Pale dawn light bleeds through a thick plankton haze, softening the horizon where the Indian Ocean meets a kelp-fringed shelf near Durban. A flying fish hangs suspended mid-air, its dark form a sharp silhouette against the rising glow. Below, dark winter waves crest with white foam, their surfaces textured by the cold season's chill. Long strands of brown kelp bob in the surf, swaying gently against the misty air. The water shimmers with a cool, steel-blue tone, while the sky transitions from gray to a faint, watery gold. One fin catches the edge of the light, defining the creature's shape against the hazy backdrop.
