Banded Sea Snake Hunting Reef Crevice Cebu

by Drake Middleton

Sunlight pierces the deep blue water in distinct, shimmering shafts that illuminate a narrow crevice in the volcanic reef floor. A banded sea snake with alternating dark and pale stripes curves its body into the rocky opening, head angled downward as it scans the shadows. The water remains exceptionally clear, allowing visibility of fine sand grains and small coral fragments scattered across the seabed. Above, slow surface ripples distort the light beams, creating a rhythmic dance of brightness and shadow on the snake's scales. The creature's skin appears smooth and slightly wet, reflecting the filtered noon glare. A small piece of broken coral rests against the rock wall just inches from the snake's tail, anchoring the depth of the frame.
