The water remains suspended in cool stillness, with tiny particles glittering like scattered diamonds in the diffused morning light. The eel’s head turns slightly, revealing rows of sharp teeth and a dark, unblinking eye. Kelp fronds sway gently, their edges softened by the underwater current. Shadows stretch long across the sandy bottom, where scattered coral fragments rest. The scene holds a quiet tension, frozen in the brief window before sunrise breaks the surface. One strand of kelp drifts past the eel’s tail, caught in the blue haze.
