Manatees Nuzzle in Goan Spring Channel
Sunlight falls through the canopy above, painting shifting patches of gold and shadow across the water's surface. Two manatees glide side by side over a dense meadow of seagrass, their gray, wrinkled skin marked by scars and barnacles. The water holds a faint plankton haze that softens the distant stems into a muted blue-green blur. Their heads press gently together in a nuzzle, creating a small ripple that distorts the dappled light below. Cool season air hangs heavy, visible in the stillness of the leaves overhead. The shallow depth of field isolates the pair against the blurred aquatic floor, leaving only the texture of their skin and the swaying grass in sharp focus.
