Manatee Drifting Over Seagrass in Sicilian Twilight
Indigo twilight falls through the water, turning the surface into a dark ceiling above a seagrass meadow in Sicily. A manatee glides horizontally through the mid-water column, its gray skin textured with subtle ridges and barnacles. Tiny suspended particles and plankton haze soften the background, obscuring the distant seabed while illuminating the grass blades below. The lighting is dim and diffuse, casting no sharp shadows, only a gentle gradient of blue and violet across the creature's flanks. The water feels heavy and still, holding the animal in a moment of suspended motion. Fine strands of green seagrass sway slightly beneath the animal's belly, their tips catching the last faint light from above.
