Fur Seal Pup in Hokkaido Seagrass Channel

Midsummer sunlight pierces the shallow seagrass channel near the Hokkaido coast, illuminating a fur seal pup suspended in water thick with plankton haze. The pup's dark, sleek fur glistens with droplets of seawater, contrasting against the vibrant green blades of eelgrass that sway gently in the current. Bright midmorning light falls through the surface, creating dappled patterns of gold and turquoise on the sandy bottom. Fine particles of plankton float in the luminous blue water, softening the distant background into a pale, glowing expanse. The animal's whiskers catch the light, while its paws rest lightly against the seagrass stems, anchoring it in the clear, sun-drenched environment. One ray of sunlight illuminates the tip of a floating leaf nearby.
