Cobalt water fills the frame where a seal moves sideways through a dense forest of kelp fronds. Sunlight strikes the distant horizon haze, casting a low, luminous glow that filters down through the water column. Tiny suspended particles glitter like scattered diamonds around the animal's smooth, dark fur. The rocky shelf beneath provides a textured anchor, its grey surface partially obscured by swaying green fronds. Layers of depth recede from the foreground kelp stalks into the hazy distance where the light meets the water. The seal's body cuts a clean, frozen line against the vertical stalks, its whiskers and eyes sharp against the soft, diffused underwater light.
