Frosted Telescope Eyepiece at Dawn in along a rocky geology outcrop near Medellín

Frosted Telescope Eyepiece at Dawn

by Gabriel Hess

Soft gray morning light washes over a brass telescope eyepiece resting on a rough, weathered rock outcrop. A thick layer of white frost rests on the metal rim and the glass lens, obscuring the view inside. The cold midsummer air has left visible ice crystals along the threaded edges of the brass tube. Behind the instrument, blurred reddish-brown rocks rise steeply, typical of the Medellín highlands. A faint sheen of moisture on the rock surface suggests the salty wind sweeping across the exposed site. The frost patterns create intricate, feathery textures against the smooth, dark glass of the lens. One shard of ice hangs precariously from the lower edge of the eyepiece ring.
