Face Beside Cracked Observatory Window Angren
by Wilma Noel
Bright midmorning sunlight floods the exterior of a remote field station in Angren, illuminating the sharp lines of a cracked observatory window frame. Condensation beads heavily on the cold, gray metal housings nearby, catching the light in tiny, glistening spheres. A face rests close to the glass, framed by the converging architectural lines that draw toward a distant vanishing point on the horizon. The early summer air has left the metal surfaces cool and damp, against the warm glow of the sun hitting the rough concrete walls. Reflections of the sky shimmer faintly on the wet metal, while the crack in the glass creates a jagged, dark line cutting through the otherwise clear view of the landscape beyond. The texture of the weathered paint on the window frame is rough and peeling at the edges.
