Foggy Chapel Corridor Antsirabe Ruin in along a derelict corridor with peeled paint and pooled water in Antsirabe

Foggy Chapel Corridor Antsirabe Ruin

by Constance McClain

Pearl fog rests on the low ceiling of a crumbling chapel corridor in Antsirabe, obscuring the upper walls where peeled icons hang from damp plaster. Pooled water reflects the dim glow of interior lamps and the distant city lights beginning to pulse through narrow windows. Dust particles drift visibly in shafts of light cutting across the floor, settling on cracked tiles and peeling paint. The corridor recedes in layers of shadow and haze, revealing the texture of decay on every surface. One cracked icon frame rests against a crumbling pillar at the edge of the water's edge, its gold leaf faded to a dull sheen.
