Crumbled Chapel Corridor With Nettles In Isfahan

by Blake Donovan

Honey-colored light spills through broken windows, illuminating dust motes that hang heavy in the air of a shattered institutional hallway. The floor lies in ruins, a chaotic carpet of broken bricks, plaster chunks, and loose stone fragments. From the gaps in the collapsed masonry, green nettles rise defiantly, their serrated leaves catching the low sun. Pearl fog drifts through the open archways, softening the sharp edges of the debris and wrapping the crumbling walls in a pale veil. The walls show peeling paint and exposed brickwork, hinting at the building's former grandeur. At the far end, a fractured column stands tilted, its base obscured by the encroaching vegetation and scattered rubble. One shaft of light highlights the rough texture of a broken stone slab resting against a jagged wall edge.
