Weather Station Silhouette in Spring Rime Snow

A dark, boxy weather station stands half-buried in a drift of coarse, windblown rime near Sapporo. The sun drops low on the horizon, casting the structure into a sharp black silhouette against a pale, fading sky. Ice crystals crust the exposed metal edges and sensor arms, glistening faintly where the last light catches them. Salt wind scours the white surface, flattening the snow into hard ridges around the base. Early spring thaw leaves patches of bare, dark earth peeking through the melting drifts. A thin layer of frost rests on the instrument housing, while the wind-driven snow creates a textured haze that softens the background mountains. at the edge is a jagged shard of ice projecting from the top corner, catching the last amber ray.
