Elephant Herd Crossing Snow Near Oslo Reed Bed
Golden evening light spills across a frozen landscape where a herd of elephants moves through thick snow crust. Heavy overcast skies loom above, yet the last rays of the sun illuminate the dusty gray skin of the animals. Tall reeds line the edge of the field, bending slightly in the side wind that carries the dust of their passage. Deep tracks mark the snow behind the moving group, showing the path they have carved through the thawing ground. The elephants' massive feet press into the icy surface, creating small clouds of vapor that rise into the cold air. The reeds stand in sharp contrast to the smooth, white expanse of the snow. Shadows stretch long across the terrain, highlighting the rough texture of the elephant hide against the brittle, frozen stalks of the reeds.
