Frost on Glass in Burgundy Hammam Ruin

by Dante Hawkins

Bright midmorning light floods the roofless interior of a ruined hammam in Burgundy, bouncing off pale, weathered walls to illuminate a thick layer of frost clinging to the remaining window panes. Iron ribs, now half-swallowed by dense autumn ivy, stretch upward toward the open sky where no roof remains. The surviving glass sheets hold delicate crystalline patterns that catch the broad skylight, creating a sharp contrast against the decaying brickwork. Green and russet leaves of the ivy drape heavily over the metal framework, marking the peak of the autumn season. A narrow beam of sunlight falls across the dusty floor, ending at the edge of a broken stone column.
