Abandoned Ropewalk Under Magenta Dawn Sky in along a vine-choked corridor near Isfahan

Abandoned Ropewalk Under Magenta Dawn Sky

by Jimmie Hubbard

Cold silver light spills through shattered skylights onto the dusty floor of a long, abandoned ropewalk corridor. Thick vines choke the stone walls, their green leaves against the weathered brick. The structure stretches deep into shadow, creating layers of receding depth. Above, the sky defies nature, glowing in an impossible, solid deep magenta that bleeds through the broken roof frames. Early autumn dryness coats the ground in fine dust. One strand of old hemp rope hangs limp from a wooden beam, its frayed end resting just above a patch of cracked earth where a small vine root pushes upward.
