Leaning Wooden Church Ruin in Summer in among toppled columns and nettles near Damietta

Leaning Wooden Church Ruin in Summer

by Lynn Lang

Bright late afternoon sun illuminates a decaying wooden church structure tilting sharply to the right. Weathered timber beams show deep gray cracks and peeling paint, against the vibrant green nettles sprouting from the foundation. Several stone columns lie toppled in the foreground, their surfaces rough and eroded by time. Dramatic white cumulus clouds gather against a pale blue sky, casting shifting shadows across the uneven ground. The angle of the sun highlights the texture of the rotting wood and the sharp edges of broken masonry. One splinter protrudes from the lower beam, catching the light against the dark soil.
