Triggerfish Guarding Nest Crater Display Ledge

Warm candlelight washes over a painted display ledge in Nkayi, highlighting the textured scales of a triggerfish standing guard. The fish hovers above a shallow crater dug into the sand, its fins rigid and alert. Soft window light spills across the surface from the side, creating a gradient of amber and shadow that defines the depth of the nest. The sand grains catch the glow, appearing golden against the darker recesses of the hole. Behind the creature, the painted wood of the ledge shows subtle wear, at the base of the scene in a specific indoor setting. One shadow stretches from the fish's tail onto the smooth sand, marking the boundary between the protector and the crater it defends.
