Sixgill Shark in Queensland Kelp Canyon

Soft, diffused light falls through the water column, illuminating a massive sixgill shark gliding along a kelp-fringed shelf. The creature's rough, slate-grey skin contrasts with the vibrant green fronds swaying gently nearby. Tiny suspended particles glitter like diamond dust in the current, catching the muted brightness of the late morning sun. The water holds a deep, otherworldly blue stillness that envelops the shark's powerful body. Close to the camera, the shark's large, dark eye and wide mouth are sharply defined against the blurred background of the deep sea canyon. A trail of bubbles escapes from its gill slits, drifting slowly into the gloom.
