Cuttlefish Through Seagrass in Cobalt Water in beside a reef crevice under clear water near Cairns

Cuttlefish Through Seagrass in Cobalt Water

by Sakura McFarland

Cobalt blue water fills the wide panoramic frame, softening the distant reef crevice where a cuttlefish hovers. Sunlight penetrates the clear surface, illuminating a dense meadow of green seagrass that sways in the underwater current. Fine plankton haze drifts through the column, creating layers of depth between the foreground blades and the distant rock wall. The cuttlefish displays a mottled skin texture of browns and creams, blending seamlessly against the grass. Its eyes scan the surroundings while its tentacles remain tucked close to the body. The water clarity reveals individual seed heads on the grass tips, glowing faintly in the late afternoon light. One blade of seagrass curves sharply in the immediate foreground, anchoring the composition with a sharp, organic line.
