Silhouetted Bracket Fungus on Fallen Oak in Valencia
Soft midday light falls through the canopy, illuminating a layer of suspended dust hovering just above the fern-lined forest floor near Valencia. A fallen oak trunk lies horizontally, its bark rough and dark, supporting a prominent bracket fungus that stands out in sharp silhouette against the bright background. The fungus displays a layered, fan-like structure with a matte texture, appearing almost black where the light hits it from behind. Fern fronds curl around the base of the log, their green hues muted by the damp, post-rain atmosphere. Fine particles of dust float in the air, catching the diffused sunlight and creating a hazy, textured veil over the ground. The fungus rests firmly on the wood, its edges defined by the backlight, while the surrounding ferns create a dense, organic carpet beneath the decaying timber.
