Rust Rings on Steel Washer Near Bogota Lichen

Soft morning light falls through sheer curtains to illuminate a steel washer resting on rough, lichen-covered bark. Concentric rings of orange and deep brown rust spread from the center of the metal disc, creating a textured topography against the cool gray of the steel. The bark beneath displays patches of pale green and gray lichen that rest on the uneven wood grain. To the right, a glass surface holds a layer of fine condensation droplets, evidence of the humid monsoon air. The washer sits centrally, surrounded by ample negative space where the light fades into shadow. A sharp edge of rust catches the light, revealing the granular decay of the metal.
