Silhouetted Fig Tree Heavy With Fruit

Hard coastal glare cuts through the late afternoon sky, casting the fig tree into a stark, dark silhouette against the bright background. Heavy clusters of fruit hang low from the branches, their rounded shapes defined only by the thin rim of light outlining each one. The forest floor below is dense with ferns, their fronds catching the light drizzle that falls in fine, visible streaks. The cool season air hangs still, yet the wet surfaces of the leaves reflect the harsh sun. Dark soil anchors the base of the trunk, while the rain creates a shimmering texture on the greenery surrounding the tree. at the edge is the way the light catches the wet edge of a single fern frond near the bottom right corner.
