Dark, textured trunks rise vertically against a sliver of bright sky, their stripped bark creating a rhythmic pattern of rough gray and deep black. The forest stands along a rugged cliff edge where salt spray has bleached the surrounding rocks pale. Late summer heat hangs heavy in the air, though the scene is cast in deep shadow. A brief sun shower cuts through the darkness, illuminating falling water droplets with a sharp rim light that traces the jagged edges of the trees. The light catches the moisture on the cliff face, turning the stone into a shimmering sheet of silver and gray. The trunks stand motionless, their forms stark and defined by the thin line of light separating them from the heavy night.
