Meerkat at Burrow Entrance Near Gaborone Tidal Inlet

Flat noon light washes the landscape in a uniform, silver-gray tone after a recent rain. A meerkat stands alert at the mouth of a sandy burrow, its fur appearing dark and matted with moisture against the pale earth. The ground is slick and uneven, dotted with small puddles reflecting the overcast sky. In the background, a tidal inlet stretches horizontally, its water level high and still, bordered by sparse, wet grasses that sway slightly.
