Meerkat Shadow Against Noon Light Ridge

A meerkat stands rigid on a wind-scoured ridge in Botswana, its fur textured with the grit of the cool season. Soft light after rain washes the scene, while a thick layer of light fog obscures the distant ground. The animal's posture suggests patient predatory stillness, eyes fixed forward. Under the flat glare of noon, the shadow cast by the meerkat defies physics, pointing directly toward the bright sky above rather than away from the sun. The shadow's edge is sharp against the pale, misty earth. Dust motes do not dance; the air remains heavy and still. The creature's claws grip the dry soil, anchoring it to the impossible geometry of its own silhouette.
