A vibrant orange and green mantle of a giant clam fans out from its shell, resting on a sandy floor beside a dark volcanic reef overhang. The water holds a thick, grayish plankton haze that softens the background near Stone Town. Beams of white light sweep across the scene from an unseen lighthouse, cutting through the rainy season murk. The low angle places the clam in the foreground, its wet surface glistening against the rough, black stone of the reef. Shadows stretch long across the sand as the light pulses. A fine trail of suspended particles drifts slowly past the clam's edge, marking the weightless quiet of the pre-dawn hours.
