Soft, overcast light falls through the water column above a tropical reef ledge near Stone Town. A cuttlefish hovers in the mid-water, its skin texture shifting between pale cream and muted brown to match the sandy bottom below. The water holds a fine haze of plankton that diffuses the distant background, showing depth without sharp edges. Sunlight penetrates from the surface, illuminating the creature's mantle and the subtle ripples of its fins. Cool season water clarity remains high, revealing the smooth curves of the cuttlefish against the darker shadow of the reef overhang. Tiny particles float in the stillness, catching the faint glow of the first morning light.
